My dear childhood friend once consulted me about buying a puppy, knowing that I grew up with a dog in my family. My friend was very excited to bring her little puppy home and was constantly updating me with the news about her very special little friend. Unfortunately, just after few months the puppy died of some very rare stomach infection in spite of all the effort my friend gave to save his life.
This sad event inspired me to make a little painting for my friend to commemorate the memory of her dog based on many photos she'd sent to me over time. It was a very enjoyable, creative and challenging process. After seeing the portrait, my friend complimented me on how deeply I was able to capture her puppy's character, energy and likeness in that small artwork.
Since then I've created a whole series of dog paintings for my friends.
As a professional illustrator/artist for corporate clients for the last 20 years, I always enjoy the challenge of creating a visual artwork bringing complex messages or advertising tasks through the simple visual solution in my paintings.
To stay focused, creative and to constantly master my artistic skills, a couple of times a week I do life drawing paintings and portraits.
I find the process of creating a pet's portrait as a very interesting collaboration between pet and his/her owner. I try to reflect their feelings, personal emotions and connections between them in the paintings.
Through a little search on the internet you might find a lot of pet artists making painted copies from animals' photos. But think of what you really see in them - look at the pet's eyes. Do you see the reflection of a soul or just an illustration for the dog breed?
If you are ready to challenge yourself - and me - in creating a special artwork portrait of your favorite pet, call me.
